Nissan Silvia S14 As Fighter Jets

Car, now is not lhanya serves as a means of transportation. Now widely used to channel creativity. One is a modified version of the Japanese Nissan Silvia which alter the appearance of the output 1999 such as jet fighters of World War 2. Told, modifications to this car was inspired by jet fighter aircraft.

Zenki named after a modified Jet Fighter. The name "Zenki" taken from the Japanese comic character, the king of stealth and the origin of the car accident is also unclear. Time it is only found parked neatly in one corner of Tokyo.

Graphic exterior appearance of cheating total of fighter aircraft. The original intention kupe sports car is also changed. This car is like a piece of history tells the story of World War 2 with a logo featuring the swastika, the Nazi symbol.

The exterior was given a gray matte paint and rust effects to give the impression of dull atgau obsolete due to age. Then, the bolt-bolt mounted prominently on every body connection.

The aspect that makes the car look like it looks frightening is the large front bumper lip like Dower. And the rear mounted air ducts on either side. Whereas at the end of the trunk lid spolier added little to resemble ducks. Replaced with glass rear grille plus side triangle glass redesigned.

Painting plastic car with his hands

In addition to the technical condition of the car plays a very important appearance, and most car owners wants his car apart from the crowd likes. For this purpose there is tuning the car - to set different bumpers, aerodynamic skirts, overlays on skirts and the like, which does not affect the car's performance, but it creates a beautiful appearance. But quite often, these skirts and family details of the car, made of durable plastic, subjected to mechanical damage - cracks, chips, scratches. Inside the car, too many plastic parts that are susceptible to aging from time to time. To bring the look of the car in decent condition is not necessary to go into expensive services, and in the presence of a small number of tools and equipment to try to paint plastic components in the home. How correctly to perform painting plastic at home? The process of dyeing plastic is virtually no different from painting the other parts of the car, except for some of the materials used, applied directly on the plastic parts. Originally part prepare: eliminate irregularities with a special putty and cover the ground for plastic. If the plastic surface previously stained it to process all items will not be enough to handle the damaged areas. A colored areas simply treat fine sandpaper. In the manufacture of avtoplastika use materials of two kinds: requiring or not requiring priming. Offered advice on the definition of a home the need for priming, such as checking buoyancy, ignition, etc. simple, but does not inspire much confidence. The only accurate way is to see whether previously primed painted detail or not. If the plastic is not primed, and paint holds up well, then we can safely forget about the dirt, in all other cases holding it is necessary. If necessary, correct minor defects in the plastic parts it must first correctly putty. To do this, use a special filler for plastics, which differs from the usual polyester greater plasticity. Primed surface after treated with waterproof abrasive paper with water to fill cracks and crevices. Before you start painting or priming the surface should be well clear of fatty compounds, bitumen and oil stains. For these purposes are well-suited white spirit or solvent 646. Then the roughness was treated with antistatic agent for removal of static electricity that attracts dust. Everything is completely dry it again, and degreasing with gun inflict 2-3 layers of soil, preventing stains. Primers can be of different colors, it is better to select a tone to the painted surface. After drying, the soil with fine emery cloth will once again be frosting for the best fit of acrylic paint. Apply the paint layers should be at least 3-4 times with the mandatory drying after each color. Recently, in the shops there is very convenient in application of paint in aerosol cans. If you use a paint-metallic, then applied for 20-25 minutes after the last coat of lacquer painting. The final stage is the application of wax polishing paste, which will hide the errors made when painting.

2011 Kia Sportage Review

Front 3/4 view of orange 2011 Kia Sportage

This years list of nominees for "most improved" wouldnt be complete without this potential winner of the award...the all-new Kia Sportage.

The nameplate has been around since 1997, when it was the grimmest little conveyance imaginable...underpowered, undersized and possessed of the kind of materials and craftsmanship that gave Korean automobiles a reputation theyre still trying to live down.

But, as weve been saying here at TireKicker for the past three years, the Koreans are making quantum leaps with each generation of automobiles. And the Sportage is an excellent example of that.

Rear 3/4 view of orange 2011 Kia Sportage

Even in more recent years, the best thing Kia had going for it was price and warranty, but the Sportage is now a no-excuses, fully competitive small SUV. In fact, its leapt ahead of some of the older competitors with a DOHC four and a six-speed automatic transmission standard in all but the base model, which gets a six-speed manual.

That base model starts at a reasonable, but no longer bargain-basement, $18,295. Our tester was the next-to-the-top EX model (the SX is a screamer, with 260 horsepower instead of the 178 in the base through EX models).  Base price: $23,295. That gets you the engine and transmission detailed above, plus power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, donhill brake and hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring, dual-zone climate control, power locks and windows, keyless entry, an AM/FM/CD/mp3 audio system with USB and auxilary inputs, cruise control, a trip computer, tilt steering wheel, Bluetooth, a 12-volt power outlet, intermittent wipers and a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel.

Interior shot of 2011 Kia Sportage

All that adds up to a very pleasant environment in which to do your driving. And the one Kia sent over for a week included navigation with Sirius Traffic and a backup camera,  a premium audio system including a subwoofer, heated front seats, pushbutton start, a panoramic sunroof, rear sonar, heated outside mirrors and a cargo cover.

Bottom line: $27,990 with destination charges. Which is right in the zone for this type of small SUV with that type of equipment.  And the combination of the four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic pays off with excellent gas mileage...22 city/31 highway. Its well worth a test drive.

Photo Radar Tickets 62 Unpaid In One State

Desperate for money, city, county and state governments around the country are looking hard at anything that throws off cash with little or preferably no effort and manpower.

Which brings us to photo radar. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger would like to change the law in his state that currently bans speed cameras (red-light cameras are legal in the Golden State), which he says could generate $338 million.

But...as The Los Angeles Times reports...$338 million in tickets doesnt necessarily means $338 million in fines paid.

Elderly Driver Hits Gas Instead Of Brake One Dead

A tragic accident in Peoria, Arizona (suburban Phoenix). An 87 year old driver parking at a Walgreens hits the gas instead of the brake, jumps the curb, hits and kills a store employee on break.

Two remarkable things...the car was a Honda, and there was no discussion of unintended acceleration...just an admission from driver and police that it was a case of standing on the wrong pedal.

This incident has a lot of similarities to all the Toyota incidents that have fueled the unintended acceleration frenzy the past few months. And when properly investigated, the end result is the same. If floormats arent trapping the gas pedal, its usually driver error.

Load index tires

The load index tires - a numerical expression of maximum load a tire can carry at the rate specified by the corresponding index and at a certain pressure of air in it. Below is a table that identifies the maximum load in kg. However, it should be noted that all indices are loads listed for maximum speed of 210 km / h. For Class V, 240 km / hour for the bus in W and 270 km / h for buses class Y. Above these speeds the maximum load index should be lower. On some buses, especially on the tires ZR-class description of the operating conditions do not apply. In such cases obraschaytsya the manufacturer and find out the maximum load value. In accordance with European regulations (ECE-R54), all tires designed for commercial vehicles should be marked "Service Description" ("Operating"), deposited near the size tire. This marking is the code that shows the limits of load and speed and includes a "load index" for single and dual wheels and an "index rate" (for example, 102/100R). Load indices and speed are applied to both the tire sidewall. The first figure shows the load bus at a single installation, and the second digit corresponds to Dual wheels. Additional markings may be used to refer to the corresponding tire loads of other higher speeds. This additional marking circled. Diagnose the car yourself

Each of us dreams of a cool car. For some, this dream of a lifetime, and for some it is necessary. But the correct interpretation of folk wisdom that the car - this is not a luxury but a means of transportation. Many can boast a cool foreign cars, and some are happy with their old "penny", "a Muscovite" or the "Volga". Once it was very expensive and rare cars, but over the years, they just go into oblivion. Today, in order to fix your car should not overtake a service station. This is because almost all stations have moved to the equipment of foreign cars. In such cases, it is useful to know how to fix your car yourself. In particular VAZ. One of the major breakdowns in this car is a failure of the engine and generator problems with the gearbox, ignition system, and many other problems. To fix a voltage regulator, required the following steps. For a start needs a key to the "8" to unscrew the nut. Then remove the regulator. It is necessary to disconnect the two wires. Then, a new regulator to attach to the mud flaps, and can connect the wires back. But do not forget that the orange wire should be connected to the output "15." The second wire is connected to the output "67." Before starting the engine, make sure that all wires are connected correctly and that the contact, which is located between the voltage regulator and a mass is securely fastened. Another well-known and widespread damage - is to replace the ignition distributor. To do this, remove the hose with a nozzle vacuum regulator, which is located in the ignition system. Get the key to "13" and loosen the nut lock plate. Then you pull the valve from the block. With the help of a key "7" unscrewing the nut, remove the wire from the low voltage output and it only remains to connect the new controller, but in reverse order. As a rule, it should last for a long time, unless of course it was all properly connected, without the snot. All new parts is better to buy from those whom you have long been aware. In most cases, they can be found in the auto market or in their own workshops. They also can consult and how to properly install this or other details. Unnecessary advice you not hurt either. 2011 Land Rover LR 4 Review

Front 3/4 view of bronze 2011 Land Rover LR4 at the beach
The 2011 Land Rover LR 4.

Younger TireKicker readers may be shocked to learn that the Sport Utility Vehicle pre-dates the Starbucks-wielding soccer mom.

Back in the day, they were fairly utilitarian beasts, these Chevrolet and GMC Suburbans, International Travelalls,  Toyota Land Cruisers and Land Rovers. But the first of these to appeal to an upscale clientele struck gold. And that was Land Rover.

Anywhere on this earth where the pavement ended, a Land Rover was the answer to the question "how do we get there?".  And that covers not just Bureau of Land Management cattle trails, but vast uncharted swaths of rugged mountains, thick jungles and deep deserts.

Land Rover was the perfect platform from which to go luxo, because the question of "can it make it?" was never an issue. And its still not.

One of my favorite David E. Davis, Jr. lines was "Itll climb a tree if youre brave enough". And that applies as much as ever to the Land Rover LR4. Want to go to the ends of the earth? Places your GPS doesnt know about? Your ride is here.

Rear 3/4 view of bronze 2011 Land Rover LR4 on dirt trail above mountains with fog and clouds
Rear view (and then some) of the 2011 Land Rover LR 4.

To prove the point, Land Rover sent along a very-nearly-base version of the LR4 (the vehicle once known as the Land Rover Discovery). Ours came with just three options...black lacquer finish trim ($350), the Climate Comfort Pack (heated seats and steering wheel plus heated front windshield and washer jets for $1,500) and the Rear Seat & Climate Package (including a 3rd row seat with curtain airbags, split-folding second-row and rear climate control, accessory socket and map lamps for $1,150). All worthwhile options, especially given the altitudes at which you might be driving your LR4.

Which means that the rest of what you get for your $47,650 is standard equipment. And that includes the best terrain response system on the market...allowing you, with a simple dial, to tell the LR4 that it needs to deal with snow, mud, sand, rocks or...dry pavement (hey, itll happen sometime).

Theres also a 375 horsepower, 375 pounds per foot of torque 5-liter V8 engine with direct fuel injection mated to a six-speed automatic transmission (which itself has normal, sport and manual shift modes), permanent four-wheel drive with Traction Control, a two-speed electronic transfer gearbox with variable locking center differential, 19 by 8" aluminum alloy wheels, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS, all-terrain dynamic stability control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Descent Control, Emergency Brake Assist, four-corner electronic air suspension and a six-airbag supplemental restraint system all wrapped in a body and frame that feels infinitely more solid than anything else on the road.
Instrument panel of 2011 Land Rover LR4
2011 Land Rover LR4 interior.

So is it all rugged utilitarianism? Well, no...and yes.

No, because this is a luxury vehicle and you will be as comfortable in it as the term "luxury" implies.

Yes, because its a different kind of luxury. One absent fragility. Everything in the Land Rover LR 4, from the seats to the switchgear, feels and is substantial. The seats are some of the best weve ever been in...conjuring up thoughts of turning a run to the store into a thousand mile journey just to see where the road (or lack of it) goes. And the modern amenities (dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, cruise control, power seats, windows and sunroof, a 240-watt, 9-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with auxilary input, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel iwth audio controls mounted on it, leather and wood throughout) are all there.

The result: A strong, secure SUV that never puts a foot wrong. An environment that not only exudes luxury worth $47,650...but also value, a feeling that youve bought something that will do its job for a long, long time.

Downsides? Just two. The EPA estimate of 12 city/17 highway is sobering...especially on those weeks when youre doing mostly city driving. And the sunshades over the power sunroof and fixed alpine roof let a bit too much light and heat through. But remember...we drove it in Phoenix during the hottest August on record. Your temperature may vary.

Bottom line: The LR 4 is proof that brilliantly engineered, purpose-built (and built to last) machines are still out there. And its proof that "rugged luxury" isnt an oxymoron.

Mercedes Benz S Class To Go All Hybrid

-

Mercedes-Benz, whose parent company is already considering a technology and stock deal with Renault-Nissan to meet European emissions standards, is also under the gun on upcoming fuel economy requirements.

One idea is to make all flagship S-Class models, including the high-performance AMG models, hybrid-only, beginning with the next generation which hits Europe in 2013 and the U.S. in 2014.

But Automotive News says Mercedes-Benz dealers in the U.S. arent happy with that idea at all.

Cars That Go Tunnel Compulsory Turning the Lights

This article is actually much discussed by the people. I discuss anymore because there are additional useful info I got from a magazine (forget what the name of the magazine) when reading in a bookstore.

If we pass a long tunnel, we would find a post which requires a four-wheeled vehicles must turn on the lights when entering the tunnel. In the magazine explained that turning on the lights in the tunnel is useful to avoid the occurrence of accidents, supposing the lights in the tunnel was extinguished (lamp off). Replacing the spark in the Mazda 3

If your Mazda engine started to act up, namely, bad plant or when driving car shudders, most likely, it's time to change the spark plugs. If you decide to do repairs on their own without the aid station of the service you will need to prepare the following tools: 1) head with a deep attachment. 2) The key with the ability to torque rotation. 3) The key rattle. 4) Special Extension head. 5) Special measures for the calculation of the gap the spark plugs. All operations should be conducted in order signing below: 1) Check only bought spark plugs for defects. On candles should not be cracked, or whether some or other visible damage. 2) Take the wire gauge and use it to check the gap between the "tentacles" of candles. 3) If the gap is more or less than recommended, it is correct. New Car Review 2013 Lexus GS350 and GS350 F SPORT

Front view, tilted, of 2012 Lexus GS350 driving toward the camera on two lane winding road
The 2013 Lexus GS350.

The styling of the all-new Lexus GS350 promises so much. Its a study in aggressive angles, a clear and direct contrast to the soft shapes of the GS that Lexus produced up until this year.

Tan leather with black dashboard 2012 Lexus GS350 interior featuring huge center dash nav screen
The 2013 Lexus GS350 interior.

The promise continues when you slide behind the wheel. The GS, so old-fashioned as recently as 2010 to have sported a cassette tape player in the dash, now has an utterly contemporary interior in which to do business, including a gargantuan video display in the center of the dash (clearly inspired by BMW).

The specs are promising...3.5 liter V6, 306 horsepower, 277 pounds per foot of torque...six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, 17 inch 9-spoke alloy wheels and the usual assortment of Lexus luxury and safety items for a base price of $46,900. Thanks to the six-speed automatic, that brings with it EPA estimated mileage of 19 city/28 highway.

But in the GS, its all about how you equip it. We drove two on two consecutive weeks. The first was fitted with the Luxury Package. Thats $5,750 worth of ventilated front seats, rear sunshade, an upgrade to 18-inch wheels, Sport S+ Drive Mode, adaptive front lighting, wood and leather trimmed steering wheel, linear espresso wood interior trim, semi-aniline leather interior trim, 18-way power front seats, Lexus memory system for the front passenger and a three (!) zone climate control.

This car also added a blind spot monitoring system ($500), a Mark Levinson 835-watt 7.1 surround sound audio system ($1,380), the navigation package ($1,735), intuitive park assist ($500), a cargo net ($64) and a trunk mat ($105). With $875 for destination and handling, the bottom line read $57,809.

And it drove....like a Lexus. Which isnt a bad thing if youre a Lexus fan and define your luxury by degrees of isolation rather than involvement. And thats not a bad thing if thats what youre expecting. Its quantum leaps better than the previous GS...but a bit of a letdown from what the styling and specs were promising.

And then, we drove this:

The 2013 Lexus GS350 with F SPORT.

This is the same car...same engine, same base price, same fuel economy estimates, same standard equipment.

There are just two differences. Instead of being equipped with the Luxury Package, this was outfitted with the F SPORT Package, and the Mark Levinson audio system was replaced with the $320 more expensive Lexus Dynamic Handling System.

And that....makes all the difference in the world. Because F SPORT turns the GS 350 into a drivers car. For $5,690 ($160 less than the Luxury Package), you get the rain-sensing wipers, heated and ventilated front seats and rear power sunshade in the luxury package, but you also get 19-inch alloy wheels with summer tires instead of all-seasons, F SPORT-tuned adaptive variable suspension, variable gear-ratio steering, 14-inch two-piece front brake rotors with four-piston calipers, a 16-way F SPORT drivers seat with power side bolsters, and more. And what it does with the same 306 horsepower is a thing of beauty. It carves instead of wallows, direct inputs are followed by direct responses, it just plain works.

The 2012 Lexus GS350 with F SPORT rear view.

Short version, youll look for every winding road you can find...because its truly a blast to drive. And F-SPORT gets you a tasty interior re-do as well:

The 2013 Lexus GS350 with F SPORT interior.

Oh, yeah. Much, much better. And remember, the EPA mileage estimates stay the same and so does the base price. In fact, the as-equipped price of the F SPORT-equipped GS350 was only $260 more than the Luxury Package-equipped model.

You know which one wed pick.

New Car Review 2012 Nissan Murano

The 2012 Nissan Murano.

There is a drawback to getting it right the first time. You change at your own risk. Its often better to sit still. But then you sort of fade from consciousness.

Case in point: The 2012 Nissan Murano, which looks an awful lot like the 2002 Nissan Murano...because, well...because they got it right ten years ago. In fact, the Murano really showed the way for the entire crossover segment. To tamper with it would be to mess with success, so Nissan has simply refined the Murano constantly along the way.

The 2012 Nissan Murano.

As someone whos driven every year of the Murano except the 2010 and 2011, I can say theyve brought this vehicle a long way. Its a much more solid, powerful, enjoyable machine than it was 10 years ago.

Still powered by Nissans now-venerable 3.5 liter V6, it now makes 260 horsepower with 240 pounds per foot of torque, and thats mated to their excellent Continuously Variable Transmission (Nissan and Subaru are the only makers whose CVTs have consistently impressed us). Our tester was the front wheel drive SL model, with 18-inch aluminum wheels, a full complement of airbags and anti-lock brakes, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, and tire pressure monitoring.

Interior of the 2012 Nissan Murano.

The SLs base price of $36,400 also gets you an 8-way power drivers seat with power lumbar support, a 4-way power front passenger seat (both heated), fold-flat rear seats with power return, leather, a Bose audio system including XM, USB and Bluetooth, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a dual-panel moonroof, ambient lighting, fog lights, and a power liftgate.

The test car had two options...cargo and floor mats ($195) and the navigation package ($1,850). With $810 in destination charges, the total was $39,255. As near-luxury crossovers go, thats a reasonable price. And the Murano is so smooth, quiet and nicely turned out that a lot of near-luxury and luxury shoppers might find they dont need a supposedly upscale brand.

Gas mileage? About average for the segment, with an EPA estimate of 18 city/24 highway. We saw 22 in a 740-mile test made up of 60% city streets and 40% urban freeways in morning and afternoon stop-and-go traffic.

Hundreds of thousands of them are on the streets, in traffic all around you...and you probably dont notice them anymore. If youre in the market for a crossover, consider this your wake-up call. Its well worth a test drive.

New Car Review 2011 Kia Optima Turbo

Front 3/4 view of blue 2011 Kia Optima Turbo
The 2011 Kia Optima Turbo.

It occurs to me I dont know the Korean word for "hat-trick". Or the one for "three-peat".
Its just never come up.

Until now.

If the face above looks familiar to regular TireKicker readers, thats because it is. Its the Kia Optima Turbo. On September 10, we reviewed the base Optima, on October 11, the Optima Hybrid, and now, on November 19, its the Turbos turn.

One car, three powerplants. The  standard Optima has 200 horsepower, the Optima Hybrid packs 166 horsepower from its gasoline engine and an additional 40 from the electric, for a total of 206 (and neither of those cars is slow) and the Optima Turbo brings 274 horses to the party.

Rear view of the 2011 Kia Optima Turbo.
You also get a sport-tuned suspension, high performance dampers and 18-inch tires with Sport Design Alloy wheels...which are controversial, but we like em.

The rest of the car? Loaded like Lindsay Lohan on a Friday night. Dual-zone climate control, AM/FM/CD/mp3 audio system with Sirius satellite radio, USB, auxilary jacks and Bluetooth. Leather. power everything. HID headlamps. LED taillamps.

For $25,995.

Yes, you read that right. A loaded, big luxurious and sporty sedan that looks like the two pictures above and has 274 horsepower for five bucks shy of 26 large.  The uplevel standard Optima (the EX) starts at $22,495. The Optima Hybrid begins at $26,500.

The 2011 Kia Optima Turbo interior.
Yes, a mere $505 spread between the Turbo and the Hybrid. Odds are, though a Hybrid intender wont seriously consider the Turbo and vice-versa. So your question will be "should I spend the $3,500 extra to move up from the Optima to the Optima Turbo and party with those 74 extra ponies under the hood?"

The good news is that if you do, youll pay the smallest imaginable penalty in gas mileage. Here are the EPA figures:

Optima: 24 city/34 highway

Optima Turbo: 22 city/34 highway

A draw on the highway...a two mpg penalty in the city.

Operating purely on base price, the Turbo makes a strong case for itself. But base price is only part of the story. For as our Optima got optioned up to $27,440 from $22,495, the Optima Turbo didnt sit at $25,995. Two option boxes got checked by the Kia PR people...both with sizable price tags.

The Technology Package (Navigation with back-up camera, Sirius Traffic, and an 8-speaker Infinity  audio system): $2,000.

The SX Premium Package (Panoramic sunroof, power front passenger seat, driver seat memory, heated and cooled front seats and heated ourboard rear seats).

With $695 freight and handling, the bottom line becomes $30,840. And that becomes a fairly pricey Kia, as good and as fast as it is.

The good news is that nothing in either of those two packages is indispensable (though the 8-speaker Infinity upgrade to the audio system is awfully nice), so you could just go stock and come in below $27K.

Frankly, all three Optimas amaze us, and weve been driving and noticing the continual progress of the brand. If you havent driven a Kia in a while, or ever, youll be astonished.

During our week with the Turbo, I had a parking lot conversation with a guy who drives a 5-series BMW, had just test driven the Kia Optima Turbo and was considering trading. Not because the Optima Turbo is a match for the Bimmer, but because it gets him most of what he enjoys in the BMW and puts money back in his pocket for other things like food, clothing, shelter and education for his kids.

Any one of the Optimas (Optima, Optima Hybrid, Optima Turbo) would be a solid choice. The Turbos the most fun.

2011 Kia Optima Turbo

Base price: $25,995.

As tested: $30,840.

Likes: Styling, room, comfort, power.

Dislikes: None.

EPA estimate: 22 mpg city/34 mpg highway.

2011 Lexus IS350 AWD Review

Front 3/4 view of 2011 Lexus IS350

Respect.

Thats probably the word that best describes most peoples admiration of Lexus. They build high-quality luxury and near-luxury automobiles at a price below...often significantly below...that of the competition from Germany.

Desire isnt heard as often, largely because Lexus "relentless pursuit of perfection" has sanded off a lot of the rough edges that enthusiasts find interesting and exciting.

But for every rule, theres an exception, and for Lexus, its the IS350.

This is Lexus drivers car. And it comes in a variety of flavors. Our most recent run was in the all-wheel drive version.

Rear view of 2011 Lexus IS350

The ISs agressive styling (certainly by Lexus standards) hints that this is something special. And the 3.5 liter DOHC 24-valve V6 more than delivers on that, with 306 horsepower and 277 pounds per foot of torque. That power gets to the four driving wheels through a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence...meaning it adapts to your driving style and the conditions youre driving in.

That all wheel drive is full-time AWD, by the way. So youre getting a consistent delivery of power to all four wheels. The IS350 is already a good-handling machine. All-wheel drive just makes it better...and an excellent companion in bad weather.
Well equipped? Well, yeah...and then some. The standard equipment list is a long one, including 17-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and Brake Assist Smart Stop technology, a full complement of airbags, Bi-Xenon high-intensity headlamps with LED daytime running lights, automatic collision notification, emergency assist, roadside assistance, tire pressure monitor, a first aid kit and a tool kit.

Interior shot of 2011 Lexus IS350

And then there are the creature comforts that come at no cost with the base price of $41,030....leather trim, a moonroof, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a Lexus Premium Audio System with 13 speakers, in-dash 6 CD changer, Bluetooth, XM and a USB connection.

The Lexus folks pushed the envelope of our tester a bit further with the Luxury Plus Value Edition Package (heated and ventilated front seats, wood interior trim, perforated semi-aniline leather seats, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, driver memory seat, illuminated scuff plate, power rear sunshade and rain-sensing wipers)...$2,795 worth of options ordered separately for $1,320. And they added a navigation system with Lexus Enform, XM NavTraffic, NavWeather, Sports & Stocks for $2,465.

$64 for a cargo net and $73 for a cargo mat plus $875 destination charges runs the bottom line up to $45,827...not bad for a car that easily runs with sedans that crack the $50K ceiling. And this one gets an EPA estimated 18 city/25 highway miles per gallon.

Its a wonderfully balanced sedan...hitting the sweet spot where performance and luxury meet. And its well worth a test drive.
